Current and former government executives to explore Continuous Diagnostics and Mitigation (CDM) program and DOD cybersecurity challenges

McLean, VA, Thursday, October 23, 2014–immixGroup, Inc., which helps technology companies do business with the government, today announced key cybersecurity programming highlights and speakers for its inaugural Government IT Sales Summit, taking place on November 20 at the McLean Hilton.

The Government IT Sales Summit will feature 16 seminar and panel discussions led by market intelligence analysts, current and former government executives, and other industry experts. Sessions will address how technology companies can grow their public sector business in a flat market while improving services to their government customers.

Featured cybersecurity panel sessions will focus on developments and challenges within the Department of Homeland Security’s $6 billion Continuous Diagnostics and Mitigation (CDM) program. Speakers also will address how IT solution providers, systems integrators, and manufacturers can help the government improve cybersecurity resiliency and combat complex cybersecurity threats. In addition, cybersecurity sales opportunities will be discussed during market intelligence briefings for Civilian and Department of Defense agencies, as well as in other seminars throughout the day.

John Streufert, Director, Federal Network Resilience, Department of Homeland Security, will host the session entitled CDM: Don’t Miss Out on Opportunity Waiting for the Big Bang. Other panelists include Mark Kneidinger, Senior Advisor, Federal Network Resilience Division, Department of Homeland, Security’s Office of Cybersecurity & Communications, and Jim Piché, Group Manager, Federal Systems Integration and Management Center (FEDSIM). Attendees will receive insights on:

    • The status of the CDM program as the government progresses through Phase I Task Orders and as Phase II requirements take shape
    • Specific agencies that have received a Delegation of Procurement Authority (DPA)
    • How a DPA can be used
    • The possible advantages of DPA to pursue future cybersecurity purchases

In a second panel discussion on cybersecurity, Proceed with Caution: Hidden Risk in IT Consolidation, attendees will learn the challenges DOD faces as increased amounts of data are concentrated into smaller IT footprints and increasingly target-rich attack vectors. Former government executives will explore how industry partners can help strengthen defenses against cyber threats. Speakers include Scott Jack, former CIO, HQ USMC and Director of Communication and CIO, USAF Global Strike Command (now President & CEO, BeNimble Consulting, LLC); Henry Sienkiewicz, former CIO and Vice Chief Information Assurance Executive and Designated Accrediting Authority (DAA), DISA; and moderator Chris Wilkinson, Senior Director, Market Development at immixGroup.

“I’m honored to join current and former government executives who will come together to provide their deep knowledge on cybersecurity solutions that are instrumental to defending our national and economic security,” said Wilkinson, who recently served as Director of immixGroup’s Cybersecurity Technologies program. “We’re confident IT vendors and channel partners attending the Government IT Sales Summit will gain valuable insights on cybersecurity opportunities to help them grow their public sector business.”
